Search for scalar-tensor mixed polarization modes of gravitational waves

چکیده
An additional scalar degree of freedom for a gravitational wave is often predicted in theories gravity beyond general relativity and can be used model-agnostic test gravity. In this letter, we report the direct search scalar-tensor mixed polarization modes waves from compact binaries strong regime by analyzing data GW170814 GW170817, which are merger events binary black holes neutron stars, respectively. Consequently, obtain constraints on ratio scalar-mode amplitude to tensor-mode amplitude: $\lesssim 0.20$ 0.068$ tightest before merger.
